A Beautiful Day at Sheffield Park: Celebrating Accessibility and Inclusion

Hello,

We are thrilled to share a wonderful experience our clients at Headway Sussex recently had during their visit to the breathtaking Sheffield Park, a National Trust property.

Our clients, some of whom are wheelchair users, had the special opportunity to explore the newly designed garden, which they helped shape to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all visitors.

What made this visit even more special was that the new garden isn’t open to the general public yet. Our clients were among the first to see and enjoy this beautiful, inclusive space—designed with their valuable input in mind.

The highlight of the day was being guided through the gardens by Jodie, the head gardener at Sheffield Park.

Jodie has not only been instrumental in leading the development of this inclusive space, but has also generously contributed time to support our own gardens at Newick.

Her passion and dedication have truly transformed our garden into a magical place for our clients to enjoy during their recovery.

During our visit, we were excited to spot some of the bird boxes our clients had crafted during their woodwork sessions, now nestled around the grounds of Sheffield Park.

It was heartwarming to see the tangible contributions they’ve made to the environment.

We were also delighted to encounter the resident peacocks, which added even more magic to an already special day.

Our collaboration with Sheffield Park has been invaluable, and we deeply appreciate the National Trust’s commitment to creating an environment where everyone, regardless of physical ability, can connect with nature.

We are eager to spend more time in these beautiful, accessible gardens with our clients, fostering a sense of peace, community, and healing.

Thank you, as always, for being a part of our journey to support recovery and inclusion.

Warm Regards,

Headway Sussex
