Make a feel good resolution for Headway Sussex!
Have you made any resolutions for 2023? Rather than set a resolution that you might not keep by the end of January, how about making one that will last all year and give you that feel good feeling too? We’re encouraging our supporters to make a feel good Headway Sussex Resolution. A small pledge that will make a big difference.
New year resolutions don’t all have to be hard and testing on your will power! Some can be easy wins that give you that feel good feeling all year round.
If you’d like to make a resolution for us, how about one of these?
Donate whilst you shop
If you regularly shop online, there’s a really easy way you can fundraise for us at the same time (at no additional cost to you). By registering to shop with Give As You Live or AmazonSmile, a small donation of every eligible purchase you make comes directly to us.
It may only be a few pence from every purchase, but they collectively add up and make a BIG difference and Give As You Live has thousands of leading stores like M&S, Boots, Sainsbury, John Lewis and Expedia on their site.
If that’s something you can do, then here are the registration details:
For Amazon Smile, simply go to smile.amazon.co.uk on your web browser or activate AmazonSmile in the Amazon Shopping app on your iOS or Android phone within the Settings or Programmes & Features menu.
For Give As You Live, you can register here – https://www.giveasyoulive.com/
Volunteer for us
We appreciate that volunteering can seem like a big commitment, but it doesn’t have to be! We have regular volunteers who come along weekly to our day centres, but we also have those who help out for a couple of hours once a month at our daytime and evening support groups around the county. Someone to welcome clients, get them seated, offer them a tea or coffee – small tasks that allow our group leaders to have meaningful conversations with others before the meeting starts.
We have volunteers who help in the garden at our centre in Newick, others with admin in the office and some who can drive a client to one of our centres in the mornings. Then we have those who help when we’re fundraising at a community event, so perhaps just a couple of hours a year. We’re flexible and welcome new volunteers under whatever hours you can offer. Please get in touch if you’d like to talk further.
Support Headway Sussex through your work
Does your work choose a charity to support every year? Or perhaps they have a social responsibility fund that donates to local charities? We love to get involved with local businesses!
Whether you would like to come in for a corporate charity day, or can sponsor some activities or services at our centres, we enjoy collaborations and in return will provide you with regular feedback and photos to share within your organisation. If your organisation has any skills that could be shared with clients too, we enjoy trying new activities or learning new skills with clients,
Ask for donations instead of gifts
We’re always touched when people opt to set up a fundraiser for us in lieu of gifts. If you’re someone who has enough already and like to help others, this really is a lovely gesture to make.
It’s easy to set up an online fundraiser. Just go to our page on JustGiving, click on ‘Fundraise for us’, upload a picture and write a few words. You’re ready to share it across your social networks with friends and acquaintances. All donations come direct to us and donors can leave birthday messages for you on your page too.
Of course, this works for birthdays, weddings, christenings and in memory donations at funerals too. This also introduces other people to our charity and raises awareness of the work we do in our local community.
Set up a monthly donation
If one of your resolutions this year is to cut the calories then perhaps you’re having one less coffee a week or cutting a muffin from your coffee shop order? That £5 would really make a difference to us and would cover the cost for someone to attend a monthly support group. If you’re cutting back on a take-away a month, that £20 would subsidise a counselling session for someone coming to terms with their acquired brain injury and help them get their life back on track.
If this is something you could do, please set up a monthly donation here. You can choose the amount you wish to donate. If you are able to tick the box on Gift Aid, we can claim an extra 25% on top of your donation too.
So if any of these suggestions are something you can consider doing, we’d love to hear from you. You can tag us on your social channels using #HSXFeelGoodResolutions. We’re making personal resolutions the focus of our support groups this month, encouraging clients to make realistic and achievable ones. We’ll be sharing some of them on our social channels too.
