Supporting Those Affected by Brain Tumours: Matthew White’s Inspiring Journey
At Headway Sussex, we are continually inspired by the courage and strength of those facing brain injuries and brain tumours. Today, we’d like to highlight the story of Matthew White from Brighton, East Sussex, whose journey with an Astrocytoma brain tumour has not only touched our hearts but has also brought much-needed awareness to the reality faced by thousands each year.
Matthew was diagnosed with an Astrocytoma brain tumour following a series of seizures, a life-changing event that has since led him to raise awareness and work closely with Stand Up to Cancer. His story sheds light on the over 12,000 individuals in the UK who receive a brain tumour diagnosis every year. This diagnosis brings with it profound challenges and adjustments, not only for the individual but for their entire support network.
Matthew’s story with Stand Up to Cancer includes a deeply personal video, where he speaks openly about his diagnosis and the impact it has had on his life. We are incredibly grateful to Matthew and his family for sharing their experience so openly, as it helps to shine a light on the challenges of living with a brain tumour and encourages others facing similar journeys.
