🧠ABI Week: 19–25 May: Understanding anger after brain injury
🧠ABI Week | 19–25 May
“On a good day, I play football.”
“On a bad day, I kick off.”
After a brain injury, emotions don’t always follow the rules. Something as small as a change in routine or a loud noise can trigger a wave of frustration or sudden anger.
Many people living with an acquired brain injury (ABI) experience challenges with emotional regulation. The brain’s filters are affected, and things that once felt manageable can suddenly feel overwhelming.
This isn’t bad behaviour. It’s brain injury.
It’s exhausting. It’s isolating. And it’s often misunderstood.
At Headway Sussex, we walk alongside people through both the good and bad days — offering strategies, space to talk, and support without judgement.
💬 If you or someone you know is struggling with mood swings, frustration or outbursts following a brain injury, reach out. You’re not alone.
