Announcing our Response & Call Back Service for those affected by ABI
We’re pleased to announce the launch of our Response & Call Back Service, offering advice, support and a friendly voice of experience to those affected by an acquired brain injury across Sussex. This has been supported through a charity partnership with Β Fieldfisher, a law firm specialising in personal injury.
Many people who suffer an acquired brain injury (ABI) find themselves alone after being discharged from hospital. They leave without a clear pathway for rehabilitation as there are no specialised local authority services in Sussex and NHS rehabilitation is time limited to severe ABI.
We recognised this lack of resource and launched our Response & Call Back Service earlier this autumn. With dedicated staff and volunteers available 3 days a week, we offer a friendly, comforting voice at the end of the phone, offering advice and directing callers in the right direction for specialized services.
ABI survivors need to find a new way of living, due to the long term implications of their brain injury. Carers and loved ones often are placed in the position of not knowing what to expect, where to turn for help and what assistance is available to them from Social Services.Β They too can be in need of help to cope with the sudden change in personal circumstances and their new found responsibilities as primary carers.

‘Our Response & Call Back Service offers a much needed and appreciated lifeline to many people affected by acquired brain injury across Sussex.Β We receive around 100 calls a week relating to recently diagnosed cases or more long-term ones and thanks to our new charity partnership with Fieldfisher, we are able to run this service more effectively to offer support to people just when they need it’
