Headway Sussex at Lindfield Arts Festival 🎨 Celebrating Creativity & Recovery

Headway Sussex at Lindfield Arts Festival: Celebrating Creativity and Recovery

This September, we’re delighted to be part of the Lindfield Arts Festival Exhibition, showcasing inspiring artwork created by clients living with brain injuries.

At Headway Sussex, we provide life-changing support for adults and families affected by brain injuries – from strokes and falls to road traffic accidents and tumours. Our services help people rebuild their confidence, skills and independence through counselling, one-to-one outreach, social and support groups, hospital liaison, and Activity Hubs.

For many people with brain injuries, art is more than a hobby, it’s therapy! Painting, drawing and mixed media can:
🎨 Improve cognitive function and fine motor skills
🎨 Unlock emotional expression when words are difficult
🎨 Reduce anxiety and boost confidence
🎨 Provide a sense of purpose and identity

As our art tutor Alex Binnie explains:

“The art group provides a space for self-expression, mood lifting, cognitive rehab, confidence building, community spirit, and a new sense of identity as an artist. It’s about achievement, making new friends – and just having fun! An escape from the world, which can be rather harsh post brain injury.”

Our project mission is summed up beautifully by our client, Saeed:

“Art is experience compounded.”

We’re deeply grateful to Hilary Kennett and the Lindfield Arts Festival team for giving our clients this platform to share their voices, stories and creativity.

📸 We’re also delighted to share that our exhibition has been featured in the latest issue of Lindfield Life magazine – see the above excerpt for a preview!

We’d love for you to come along, see the artwork, and celebrate recovery through creativity with us.

Join us at the festival to meet our inspiring clients and experience their incredible artwork first-hand.:
