We’d like to share an important update about the future of Headway Sussex and ask for your support.
In partnership with Remmus Designer Homes, a planning application has now been submitted and is available to view on the Lewes District Council Planning Portal under reference LW/26/0343.
Many of you will know that we have been looking at ways to secure the long-term future of Headway Sussex. Our current buildings are no longer meeting our needs. They are expensive to run, not energy efficient, and don’t provide the best environment for the services and activities we offer.
Working alongside Remmus Designer Homes, we have developed plans to create a new, purpose-built home for Headway Sussex. The new building would give us modern, accessible spaces for support, activities and office facilities, helping us to stay on site at Newick and provide better services for many years to come.
If you support our plans, we would be very grateful if you could take a few minutes to leave a positive comment on the Council’s Planning Portal. Every message of support helps show how important Headway Sussex is to the people and communities we serve.
As part of the proposal, Remmus Designer Homes is also seeking planning permission to build 25 high-quality new homes. The development has been carefully designed to fit into the local area while helping to meet local housing needs.
Like many charities, we are facing rising costs. We have already had to make difficult decisions about some of our services, and without significant investment, it will become increasingly difficult to continue providing the support that so many people rely on. This project gives us the opportunity to build a more sustainable future and continue supporting people affected by acquired brain injury across Sussex.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported us so far and taken the time to learn about the proposals. If you feel able, please submit a comment of support through the Council’s Planning Portal. Your support really could make a difference to the future of Headway Sussex, so that we can continue in our ambitions to meet the future needs of people with ABI in Brighton and Hove, and East & West Sussex.
