Iz is fundraising for us!

šŸƒā€ā™‚ļø Iz is lacing up her running shoes for a remarkable cause! šŸ™Œ
She is gearing up to tackle the Great South Run to support Headway Sussex, and here’s her heartfelt reason why:
“I am a 38-year-old married mother of a three-year-old son. Prior to my haemorrhage, I worked as a children’s services social worker. I am still unable to return to work.
On December 7, 2022, I experienced a subarachnoid haemorrhage with hydrocephalus at home.
Following the haemorrhage, I spent several weeks in the Intensive Care Unit and subsequent months in the hospital, undergoing multiple shunt operations while relearning basic functions such as walking and talking.

I make an effort to attend the monthly meetings in Brighton hosted by Headway Sussex, finding comfort in connecting with individuals who share similar experiences and coping mechanisms. Each of us has navigated unique challenges on our journey to rediscovering our “new normal selves.” Additionally, I obtained a Headway card, which helps me feel more confident when out in the community, knowing that I have support readily available if needed.
Now, I feel able to try and raise money for Headway Sussex, whom have offered me great support and offer so much support in many different ways to many others who aren’t able to put on running shoes and try and raise money. That’s why I’ve decided to embark on a fundraising campaign for Headway Sussex. Every penny raised will go directly towards funding their programmes and services, ensuring that others facing similar challenges can receive the support they need.”

Let’s rally behind Iz and show our support as she strides towards making a difference! šŸ’Ŗ
