MP Peter Lamb visits Crawley Support Group: Listening to Hidden Voices đź’™
Good Morning,
On Tuesday 6th August, we welcomed Crawley MP Peter Lamb to our Crawley support group, where he spent the morning listening to the personal stories of individuals living with acquired brain injuries.
Each member of the group had the opportunity to speak directly to the MP about their unique journey—stories that highlighted both courage and ongoing struggle.
While there were moments of gratitude for the support received, some conversations expressed anger and frustration. Many clients bravely shared the difficulties they’ve faced getting a diagnosis, the delays in accessing treatment, and the overwhelming barriers to securing essential benefits such as Personal Independence Payment (PIP). These aren’t isolated experiences, and unfortunately, they do reflect a wider issue affecting brain injury survivors across the UK.
We’re grateful to MP Peter Lamb for taking the time to listen without judgement. His visit helped give voice to some of the most overlooked challenges in the aftermath of a brain injury—issues that are often invisible, but life-altering.
Headway Sussex will continue advocating for better pathways to diagnosis, support, and independence.
Every conversation like this is a step towards real change. đź’™
Thank you to everyone in Crawley who made the visit so powerful.
With Gratitude
The Headway Sussex Team
