Crafted with Care: Accessible Picnic Tables Thanks to Local Heroes

Good Afternoon,

We’re delighted to share a meaningful update that reflects the power of community and the importance of inclusion here at Headway Sussex.

Recently, we set out to enhance our outdoor spaces by adding accessible picnic tables—specially designed so that all of our clients, including those who use wheelchairs, can sit comfortably and enjoy time outside together.

We reached out to Chris at Uckfield Men’s Shed, who was more than happy to help. With care and craftsmanship, the team set to work—and we’re thrilled to share that the first of two beautifully designed tables is now complete and already in use. As you’ll see from the photos, it’s already making a difference.

This project was made possible by the generous support of Uckfield Lions, who kindly funded the entire build. Thanks to them, our clients can now enjoy meals, conversation, and calm outdoor moments in a space that truly welcomes everyone.
